The terminal
The key bar, copy and paste, and a few commands to know.
Every session in Horus is a terminal: a screen of text where you type and the computer answers. Your phone's keyboard is missing a few keys that terminals need, so Horus adds a key bar above it.
The key bar
| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
| ESC | Escape. Cancels things, and in many agents stops what they're doing. |
| TAB | Completes a file or command name as you type. Press it often. |
| CTRL ALT | Sticky modifiers: tap CTRL, then a letter. CTRL then C sends Ctrl-C. |
| ← ↑ ↓ → | Move the cursor, pick from menus, and scroll back through commands you've run (↑). |
| END | Jump to the end of the line. |
| / - | Shortcuts for two characters you type all the time in commands. |
| SHOW | Shows or hides the phone keyboard (the key then says HIDE). |
| RETURN | Enter. Runs the command or sends your message. |
Ctrl shortcuts worth knowing
| Press | To |
|---|---|
| CTRL then C | Stop the running command. |
| CTRL then D | Exit the shell or program (end of input). |
| CTRL then L | Clear the screen. |
| CTRL then R | Search commands you've run before. |
Links
You can tap links in the terminal. For safety, only some open: pages on your own phone (localhost, like a dev server), and GitHub, Anthropic, Claude, OpenAI, ChatGPT and OpenCode sites for signing in. Other links don't open when tapped.
Your first commands
Never used a terminal? These cover most of what you'll do by hand. Try them in Bare terminal.
# where am I? pwd # list what's here ls # go into a folder, and back up one level cd my-app cd .. # make a folder mkdir notes # show a file cat README.md # what changed in this project? git status
| Folder | What's there |
|---|---|
/workspace/projects | Your projects. Shared by every agent and the shell. |
~ | Your home folder (the shell's settings and history). Each agent has its own. |
Sessions keep running when you leave. Here's how to keep them alive.
